CHRISTOPHER JAMES, FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHER
Christopher James photographic works are collected by the Denver Art Museum, US West, Time Warner and many individuals, Christopher is also a founding member of the Denver Salon, an extraordinary group of fine art photographers who became known in Denver and New York City for their diverse and adventurous expressions in photographic media. Christopher has exhibited his work in major galleries and museums for over 15 years. He is represented locally by Rule Modern and has also participated in group and solo exhibitions at Rule, Genre Gallery, Pirate Contemporary Art Oasis, City Frames and the Emmanuel Gallery, among others. Christopher teaches many workshops in night photography, the cityscape and architecture. Christopher's work, day or night has followed the birth and death of structures and transitions from historic to contemporary, from past to present. Perhaps without making judgment, his work simply tells a story of urban disturbances, allowing the viewer to decide if the actions revealed in his photographs are desecration or essential and positive change.

WITH CHRISTOPHER JAMES

URBAN DISTURBANCE
Destruction, desecration, resurrection. The destruction and rebirth of communities that have fallen into disrepair or are no longer healthy can be a good thing and lead to a renaissance of the community. This has been taking place from the beginnings of time, from cavemen to our most sophisticated cultures, from Denver to the Middle East.  Whether destruction occurs because of war or the vision of a developer, change can be a dream come true for a community, or it can be useless and shortsighted, as in cheap and ugly urban blight or the destruction of cultural treasures in China’s Cultural revolution. We offer you a subject that is constant in our industrialized environment, one that most of us have strong feelings about. The workshop group will decide on a specific project to photograph, such as TREX or any of the bridges and demolition projects currently underway in Denver Metro. Keep your eyes peeled for great subjects and work with one of our top instructors to realize your vision. Christopher will include tips for improving your night photography, along with work on perception, capture and story of our concept.
