CLASSES & WORKSHOPS WITH T. JOHN HUGHES
ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Architecture defines where and how we live in our surroundings. Skillful architectural photographs convey a perception and vision of that experience, and this will be your goal in our exciting new workshop with T. John Hughes. We'll ask you to use photography to define an appreciation of our built environment, working in Denver and in Belmar, the contemporary urban development that is home for our school.
Our workshop topics include: Recognizing and using light with optimal perspective; Revealing and defining form within structure; Applying or capturing color and composition; Lenses and gear; Supplemental lighting; and digital production using Adobe Photoshop. Emphasis will be on exteriors with a strong focus on understanding daylight in all its variety. Compositional choices, logistics and the opportunity for digital “post production” will all be addressed, and methods of approaching interiors with or without supplemental lighting will be discussed. As part of the class, a shooting tour in downtown Denver will concentrate on four significant movements in architectureNeo Classicism, Modernism, Post Modernism and Deconstructionism.
