The Show:
Flowers by their very nature are sensuous, playful, and poetic. FLASH Gallery in Lakewood, CO is looking for your floral images filled with the essence of mystery, intimacy, sensuality and more. We welcome and encourage your unique interpretation of this intricate and luminous subject; from the most intimate of expressions, to the way they reveal their presence in our natural and built environments. Whether shot in your garden or studio; whether isolated, in arrangements or with another subject, we want to see what drives you to create.
Teri O'Neill is an artist, educator, author, creativity coach, and international speaker. Gallery at Night She is the director of T. R. O'Neill Productions which specializes in exhibitions, workshops, and seminars on creativity and design. Teri has a Masters of Art in Design, Colorado State University with a concentration in creativity and higher education. She has taught throughout Colorado at Working with Artists Photography School, Colorado State University, Arapahoe Community College, Naropa University in Boulder, and The Art Institute of Colorado in Denver.
Her photography has been exhibited nationally in museums, galleries and botanical gardens. She is in collection at the Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Jackson Hole Wildlife Museum, Kaiser Corporation, Colorado Women's College at the University of Denver, and many corporate and private collections. Teri's work has appeared in national and regional publications of books, magazines and newspapers throughout the United States and Europe.
To Participate:
- JPG/Slide Images must be received no later than April 12, 5pm.
- Artists will be notified of acceptance by April 15th.
- Accepted work will need to arrive matted and framed no later than Wednesday, April 30, 8pm.
- Show runs May 2nd June 8th, 2008
- Entry fee of $20 for up to 5 images for non-members and up to 8 for members of WWA.
CDs/Slides may be dropped off or mailed to our offices. Please make sure each slide is labeled with your name and title and include an entry form and entry fee in your shipment.
JPGS may be sent on CD to our office or may be emailed to us at flash@workingwithartists.org
*Images should not exceed 1.5MGs in file size each. JPG images must be titled with your initials and a #. For example VPG_1.jpg, VPG_2.jpg. Do not add spaces, or pound signs in your file titles. An entry form must accompany your submissions.
Entry fee of $20 for up to 5 images for non-members and up to 8 for members of WWA. Checks can be made out to "WWA" or payment via credit card can be done over the phone at 303.837.1341
Video, three dimensional and multi-media work that includes the photographic medium are encouraged. All processes must be archival, durable and exhibit top-level presentation.
Artists will be notified of selection by April 15th. Accepted work will need to be delivered to the gallery no later than April 30th, 8pm. Artists selected from out of state will be responsible for shipment of work to and from the gallery. Please provide return information in your shipping of your accepted work.
All artwork will be held to museum standards and must be of high aesthetic and craft quality. For the cohesiveness of a group show, Flash requires that all frames be simple black metal or wood and non-decorative and must have hanging wire on the back. All mats must be white or slight off white. Alternative framing is accepted with prior consent of the Directors. Works entered should come from a fine art perspective and fit our gallery vision. Images will be held to a high level of aesthetic quality in both print and in presentation. The Directors reserve the right to exclude any work not fitting the presentation requirements.
Artists who are accepted out of state will be responsible for shipping framed work to and from the gallery. Please include a note of how you would like to have your work returned and how it will be paid for.

Flash has monthly changing exhibits, talks and events with the purpose of exposing and educating the public in fine art photography. We have shown more than 150 artists from all around the world since it's inception in August of 2005. Our Vision:
Flash is an inviting and inclusive gallery that seeks to create a public dialogue while upholding the WWA mission to encourage and support artists. Our goals are • to present changing exhibits that incite curiosity and discussion • to keep artists involved and challenged • to create excitement and interest in the arts community and beyond • to showcase contemporary fine art movements and ideas, including "cutting edge" and controversial concepts and processes • to maintain a high level of aesthetic quality.
The Space:
Flash is a fine art gallery that is under the direction of "Working with Artists", a non-profit photography school in Colorado. The 1,000 square foot space is part of a new development called "Belmar" - an area that provides live, work, shop spaces abundant with cultural amenities developed by the Contiuum Partnership. Working with Artists is also part of an overall block called "Block 7" which consists of 7 studio spaces dedicated to art and design. http://www.aaronsiskind.org The Aaron Siskind Foundation is offering a limited number of fellowship grants of up to $5,000 each for individual artists working in still photography and photography-based media. Grant recipients and award amounts will be determined by a review panel on the basis of accomplishment to date and the promise of future achievement in the medium in its widest sense.

The only prize of its kind, the CDS / Honickman First Book Prize competition is open to American photographers of any age who have never published a book-length work and who use their cameras for creative exploration, whether it be of places, people, or communities; of the natural or social world; of beauty at large or the lack of it; of objective or subjective realities. The prize will honor work that is visually compelling, that bears witness, and that has integrity of purpose.

First announced a year after the Center's founding at Duke University, the prize was created to encourage collaboration between documentary writers and photographers in the tradition of the acclaimed photographer Dorothea Lange and writer and social scientist Paul Taylor. In 1941 Lange and Taylor published American Exodus, a book that renders human experience eloquently in text and images and remains a seminal work in documentary studies. The Lange-Taylor Prize honors their important collaborative work.
Magnum Photos announces the third $5000 Inge Morath Prize to be awarded to a woman photographer under thirty years of age. The prize is designed to assist in the completion of a long term documentary project. Inge Morath was an Austrian-born photographer who was associated with Magnum for almost fifty years. She died in January, 2002. As Inge devoted much of her enthusiasm to encouraging women photographers, this award is given as a tribute by her colleagues.
